hi, since GTAW is a combo of SMAW I and II..is it ok to enroll in the GTAW course to start?, by the way i dont have any formal training of any welding course yet, i’m an undergrad of a 4 yr. advertising course, i would like to enroll in your school,..’am interested w/ the GTAW NC course, can you tell me what’s the difference between a GTAW and TIG welding?..thanx, more power and God bless!
By: deric on September 15, 2009
at 8:03 pm
Hi Deric, thanks for coming by. GTAW and TIG is just the same. GTAW is an American term which is Gas Tungsten Arc Welding while TIG is British term which is Tungsten Inert Gas, these two are just the same.
Ang GTAW po ay hindi combo ng SMAW NC I at SMAW NC II. Ibang process po ang SMAW at ibang process naman ang GTAW.
As a beginner po, you need to start in first step which is taking up the SMAW NC I. After ma take nyo po ang SMAW NC I, pwede nyo ng kunin ang SMAW NC II, pag may SMAW NC II na kayo, pwede na kayong kumuha ng GTAW NC II.
Ang pre-requisite po kasi ng GTAW NC II ay dapat may training ka as SMAW NC II or may experience ka as Pipe Welder (SMAW).
Ang pre-requisite naman ng SMAW NC II ay dapat may training ka as SMAW NC I or may experience ka as Plate Welder (SMAW)
Thanks po

Thanks

Hi Aldrin, we are not affiliated with them. We have 2 on-call ASNT Level 3 (a Filipino and an Australian) who can conduct the course and certify as well. But we need a minimum 12 trainees before the course push through.
Thanks.

Thanks po sa feedback. Bale kung Welding Inspector po kukunin ko, hindi ko na po kailangan kunin yung SMAW NC I, II, and GTAW II? Included na po ba sila dun sa Welding Inspector course alone? Or do you recommend na kunin ko sila if not included?
By: Chito on October 20, 2009
at 11:57 am
Hi Chito, thanks for coming by. Being a Welding Inspector, you don’t need to be a Welder. Your engineering degree is enough for you to qualify to take the Welding Inspector’s Course. However, a lot of good Welding Inspectors are previous welders. I dont recommend for you to take SMAW or GTAW course, but if you have the time and money, it will be a good edge for you! Thanks

My knowledge and in skill in metal work is a great challenge for me that’s why I want to pursue this career. I am currently employed as an area manager for NDT Company here in KSA. I have ideas on NDT methods but not hands on. I am Registered Mechanical Engineer
I would like to know if you are offering courses on between march or april next year during my vacation
1. Basic Welding
2. Welding Inspection (Is this covers CSWIP review)
3. Radiographic Test and Film Interpretation
Reading the lines it was mentioned that there is no pre requisites required for welding inspection.
