Hi Darren, thanks for coming by. Im not pretty sure what is the requirements of BSEN 6947 as we always use the ASME IX Code. However, weld progression depends on the WPS requirements. If the WPS you working states that the weld progression is uphill, then you need to weld it uphill, but if the WPS you are working states that the weld progression is downhill, then you need to weld it downhill.
Generally, pipeline welding uses downhill progression which is under API 1104. Welding of Piping under ANSI B31.1, 31.3 generally uses uphill welding whcih is qualified under ASME IX requirements.
I hope you got what you are looking for.

dear sir, i took up certain welding courses in our place and passed the trade test this january in gmaw and gtaw both in NCII. up to now i`m still unemployed since the day i finished my training.i have no work related experience only at training school. i envy your graduates who got hired immediately after training. your school was the other choice of mine, but due to your location i settled the for the one were i`m convinient.i`m in dire need of work, no agencies had yet to reply on any of my applications.i fear that certain skills i acquired in training is decreasing. i plan to retake the course but since was unemployed i now lack funds. i would like to ask if you could help me out? i`m willing to settle for a salary deduction upon employment if you provide one. thank you! hoping for any response!
